Just
3 kilometres from Impisi is the ancient town of Ostuni.
One of the most stunning towns of Southern Italy. An
important Greco Roman city of the first century with
its old centre, a gleaming white splash of sun bleached
streets and cobbled alleys, dominating the plain below.
The maze of well preserved winding streets makes for
a fascinating amble and there are wonderful views to
the sea and the wooded hills. On the coast there is
the tiny port of Villanova, as well as small beaches
with rock pools of crystal clear water.Impisi is well
placed for visiting a wonderful variety of towns, such
as Baroque Lecce and ancient Otranto to the south. Inland
the Valle d’Itria with the ‘trulli’ of Alberobello and
the picturesque towns of Martina Franca and Locorotondo.
Between Bari and Brindisi (with their international
airports and ferry services) is the site of the ancient
Messapian city of Egnazia. Also to be found along this
part of the Adriatic coast are rock hewn villages and
tiny sandy coves .
